By His Wounds...We are Healed
Here I sit, on Holy Thursday, the day before Good Friday, the day when around 2000 years ago, Jesus sat, grievously awaiting the next day. You see, Jesus knew that 2000 years ago tomorrow, he would pay the ultimate price...he would be tortured, beat, and murdered in the most horrible way, but he didn't turn back. He could have ended it all in the blink of an eye, a snap of the finger, but He didn't. He took it all, the beatings, the ripping and tearing of his skin, and the pouring out of his blood....and he did it all for you. For you and me. For every single person on this earth today. Imagine, knowing that tonight would be your last night on Earth. Imagine knowing the amount of pain, suffering and eventual crucifixion that would be bestowed upon you in a mere 24 hours from now. Now take that a step further, imagine going through all that, to save the very people that were doing this horrible, tragic and gruesome things to you. Some people say that the Jews killed Jesus, I would have to disagree...We all took part in killing Jesus. The very sinners that Jesus came to die for and give the hope of eternity for, were the same people who mocked him, who spit on him, who hammered him to the cross....You and I were those people. We were horrible sinners of this world. We were detestable and only worthy of Hell, but God looked past that and saw a being worth unconditional love, mercy and grace. For this very reason, he sent his son Jesus to live a life, so that 33 years after his birth, he would be mercilessly killed and hung on a cross. Never has there been a picture of love been so real so that a God who created, would come and sacrifice Himself in human form, to save the very creation he created.
BUT IT DIDN'T END THERE......
The beauty of it all, was that three days later, Jesus defeated death, and rose again!!!! Our God is not dead, He is surely alive! With the holes still in his hands and feet, Jesus ascended into Heaven, winning the battle and fulfilling the ultimate act of love.
Hallelujah!!! Hosanna to the Highest!
