Jesus, Friend of Sinners
I don't know if you actually watched this video or not, but if you didn't, please do. It's a song that talks about one of the many problems in Christianity today. The lyrics that describe this song the best is this:
Jesus, friend of sinners, the one who's writing in the sand
Made the righteous turn away and the stones fall from their hands
Help us to remember we are all the least of these
Let the memory of Your mercy bring Your people to their knees
Nobody knows what we're for only what we're against when we judge the wounded
What if we put down our signs crossed over the lines and loved like You did
I'll be the first to admit, I don't like the term "Christian", I prefer "Christ Follower". In today's world, being "Christian" means being "holier than thou", at least to those who aren't involved in the Christian religion. You see after generations of focusing on the sins of others and condemning to Hell, being "Christian" comes with many negative connotations. It's a problem that I hope my generation will begin to fix....We are called to love others, no matter who they are or what they do. Please show me in the Bible where Jesus says, "Go and condemn the world in my name, and when they hate you, justify it by saying we are supposed to be disliked and hated..."
Ill give you a hint: It doesn't say that.
Ill give you a hint: It doesn't say that.
My only question is: Who are we to go around and act like just cause Jesus is in our lives, that we are entitled to treat everyone else as less than us. Reality check: You, me and everyone else on this Earth is equally sinful...there is not one person who is better than the other, not even the Pope. Jesus came to die for all of us, yes that easy to say, but it seems in today's world for most "Christians" Jesus only came to die for them.
Another reality check: Christianity isn't about us. Its about giving glory to God and following Christ...we should count our blessing everyday that we were even considered loved in the eyes of God. He doesn't owe us anything, He chose to send His son, because of love... a kind of love that seems to be lacking in the world today.

So instead of condemning the homosexuals...why not love them?
So instead of condemning those who lie, why not show them the Truth?
So instead of condemning murderers, why not tell them about the Everlasting Life?
So instead of condemning those who get abortions, why not help dry their tears and comfort them? Let them know that there is someone who loves them.....no matter what
So instead of gossiping about that person who didn't come to church, why not invite them to lunch or some other outing and just listen to them?
So instead of hurting others just to build yourself up, why don't do you do as Jesus did and humble yourselves before others?
They say that the US population is 38% Christian...I would argue that it's less than that. I would also argue that the USA is no longer a Christian nation, whether you want to believe it or not. As a Christ Follower, I must realize that times are changing, circumstances are changing..but the one thing that WILL NOT CHANGE is the love of Jesus Christ. He transcends all generations, cultures and time.
Let me make this clear...
Its not our jobs to go and change hearts....if you're claiming to be a Christian and trying to change people's hearts, you are probably miserable because it wont ever happen. Who created that heart? You?....Its like me trying to change the weather just by screaming at it and telling it that it has to change...it will never work.

The only One that can change and transforms hearts is the only One who created it in the first place: Jesus.
Jesus didn't come to condemn the world....but to save it(John 3:17)....please read that verse over and over til it stick......so why is that in the world today, Christianity isn't respected or seemingly attractive to others? Why is it when people think of Christianity, they think immediately of condemnation instead of love?
Its because we've spent way to much of our time condemning and tearing down, instead of loving and building up....This has got to change. NOW
Please quit blaming the broken world for
the problems associated with Christianity, we will never be able to fix
that...the one thing we can fix and change is how we treat others.
